Lovey Dovey

Published: 18 Feb 2026   updated: 26 Feb 2026

As Valentines Day has just passed we thought we would share a wonderful relationship with a beautiful car. We have had the pleasure of working with the owner and his various other cars over the last 20 years with more recently having the privilege of working with his most recent purchase.

The Dove is one of the more unusual and less often seen variants of the TR series. The Dove was produced by L.F. Dove Triumph dealers, in Wimbledon with similar thoughts to those used in the production of the Harrington Alpine (you'll be able to see the Dove at the Harrington Gathering in May 2026). This was a luxurious fastback version of the Sunbeam Alpine produced in 1961 and became an immediate success and so Thomas Harrington of Hove in Sussex hooked up with Dove's to produce the GT4R based on new TR4 cars as a cheaper and more easily maintained version of the Aston-Martin DB2/4 Mk.111 and similar luxury cars.

The Dove shown here is even more unusual as the car is based on a TR250 chassis and therefore has independent rear suspension and a 6 cylinder engine. The car was created by a previous owner. The current owner has been going through a list of improvements to make it into the car he wants it to be, and we have been delighted to carry out these improvements for him on his recent purchase.

Currently we have installed our well-known head control kit which can be seen in the photos. This kit brings all the main controls to your fingertips; indicates dip/flash wiper/washers and overdrive, using our world-renowned logic device.

We have also installed an intermittent wiper kit which is sited, with a lighting switch from the late TR6, where the washer and wiper switched were.
