TR4A-6 clutch release bearing carrier made from high quality phosphor bronze. A very high quality part with an internal diameter machined to very tight tolerance for a perfect fit.

The original TR4A part, of a similar design, was made from phosphor bronze and was able to spin, resulting in the operating pins finding a new spot to rest at each operation. The TR250, 5 and 6 part, whilst physically the same as that fitted to the TR4A, was made from steel and incorporated a small pin through the operating pin recess. The change of material would doubtless have taken place on cost grounds, the pin being introduced to stop aggressive wear on the mail sliding bore by preventing the carrier from spinning.
The bad news is that as the carrier does not spin, the operating pins always stop in the same place against the small pin resulting in excessive wear in the groove at this one spot.
Our product is made from very high grade phosphor bronze, has no small pin that would prevent rotation and as a result no indentations are made in the groove by the operating pins.
There are certain important features about these carriers that should be borne in mind,. The Phosphor Bronze material used must be of a particularly high grade to prevent aggressive wear and the tolerance on the internal bore demotion must be held to 0.0005" to ensure the carrier does not either stick because it is too tight or tip over, causing juddering because it is too loose. Both of these criteria are a feature of our product which is made exclusively for Revington TR.

As an aside; carriers were never a problem on TR2-4A's and they were all phosphor bronze!

This carrier will be used in TR2-4 where the flywheel has been re-drilled to accept the diaphragm cover.
