SELF TAPPING SCREWS
To ensure self tapping screws can be easily identified, they are stored in a numerical sequence. The clear advantage of this system is that alternatives can quickly be found if say a slightly longer screw is needed. Always ensure the correct style and length of screws are used for a particular job.
Original Triumph part numbers are invariably superseded to part numbers in this sequence.
All self tapping screws are numbered as follows:
Prefix = SS
1st Number: - 1
= English 2 = Metric
2nd/3rd Numbers: - Gauge
Number or diameter in mm
4th/5th Numbers: - Length in 1/8th of an inch or mm from under the head to the end, except countersunk screws where the depth of the countersink is included
6th Number: - Head type
1
= pan slot
2
= pan pozi
3 = cks slot
4 = cks pozi
5 = raised cks slot
6 = raised cks pozi
7 = flanged pozi
7th Number : - Finish plus variations
1
= BZP
2
= chrome
3
= black
4
= BZP spire screw (no point)
9 = none standard variations
