ROD & BRACKET KIT CR THOTTLE Type 1

RTR Upgrade
Part No:
RTR4213-1K

main

This kit of parts allows the original double cam throttle assembly to be reinstalled so that it can operate the new overhead system. This kit should be specified when the original double cam assembly and cable bracket are still to hand.

This kit along with RTR4213-2K has been developed to 'soften' the initial throttle response by reintroducing Triumphs original double cam assembly. CR TR6's in standard form have very high inlet vacuum which tends to hold the butterflies shut. The original mechanism has a double cam arrangement that provides very little butterfly movement for the first ¼ throttle cable movement and then progressively gives more butterfly movement as the throttle is opened wide. This mechanism gets over the problem of the vacuum holding the butterflies shut by introducing a huge mechanical advantage off idle which diminishes with pedal travel.

This kit, RTR4213-1K provides all the necessary parts to re-use the double cam assembly from the original CR throttle mechanism.
Kit RTR4213-2K is the same as RTR4213-1K but a second hand double cam assembly is also included.

Note1: - Both these kits are not intended to be used alone, but are intended to be used in conjunction with RTR4213K and RTR 4213DK
Note2: - In the photograph it will be seen that the double cam arrangement is mounted on a small angled adaptor bracket. If a tubular exhaust manifold is fitted with long primaries similar to the one shown in the photograph and the mechanism and operating rod are likely to foul the exhaust in operation, the angled adaptor bracket can be bent further until clearance is achieved.
Note3: - Please be aware that in installing this kit, parts from the original CR mechanism are reused and one part of the original mechanism, the cable support has to be cut to fit with the overhead assembly. The fitting instructions supplied explain what needs to be done.
