12Volt battery with modern internals in a traditional near square box. Most modern batteries have inset terminals that simply do not look right on classic cars, this battery is of a more traditional design and therefore more suitable to cars of the 50's, 60's and 70's.

Early cars would have had either open bar or monolid rubber batteries. These have significant disadvantages in  comparison with modern batteries: they are sometimes not available in the size required, are dangerous in the case of open bar types and are hideously expensive. This battery is therefore a reasonable compromise for most owners.
 

 

This Battery is reference 005R, the terminal orientation is called Layout 1
