TR4-4A-5-250-6 Full Safety Cage Left Hand Drive (LHD) consisting of a front and back hoop, door and roof bars and backstays to the rear chassis. This Safety Cage can be used in an open car or with a solid roof but is NOT intended to be used with a soft top and folding frame

RevingtonTR offer this complete full cage safety solution for those who are building a competition TR. These cages, being for historic vehicles and considering the material used and the design conforming with the FIA (and MotorsportUK) rules, do not require certification for most forms of motorsport worldwide. If in doubt please check with you motorsport organisation, competition and championship organisers before purchase.
 
The cage comprises a front and rear hoop, removable door and roof bars, harness bar and a diagonal. The cages are handed insofar as the the strongest point is above the drivers head, thus the diagonal runs from top left to bottom right. two extra pieces of bar can be welded in at extra cost to form an X for the very seriously competition minded. This does not however make this a universal cage, as the FIA rules stipulate that the solid bar must be welded to the main hoop above the drivers head. This begs the question in a rally car 'is the co-driver less important perhaps? Hmmm.... But we don't make the rules!
This full cage has been designed with multiple use in mind. The door bars and the roof bars when removed revert the car to a soft top touring car when used in conjunction with a backlight frame and Surrey top.. The front hoop can easily be removed too although the design is such that access and visibility are not obstructed if it is left in place. 

Whist suitable for many applications, this full safety cage has been designed to complement the RevingtonTR fibreglass backlight and surrey/hard top arrangement.
 
Please note that the front hoop goes down the side of the dash panel, requiring a small amount to be removed from each side of the dash. RevingtonTR do not approve of mutilating a perfectly good original dash panel. To overcome this problem we supply a solid aluminium panel, which can be adjusted to suit. Order Part no. RTR6133.

The RevingtonTR Safety Cage and Backlight Frame Arrangement explained

RevingtonTR have designed and produced an ingenious backlight and Surrey or hardtop arrangement with the rear main hoop of this safety cage integral to the design, suitable for TR4, 4A, 5 and 250. This arrangement has been successfully fitted to many TR6's as well. See RTR7122 series for details of the full kit. The principle is that the main rear hoop of the cage has a complex ring rolled shape so that it perfectly fits up inside our fibreglass backlight frame offering support to that frame whilst providing maximum rearward visibility. The main rear hoop is the same in all variations of the full Roll Over Protection (ROP) whether it be this full cage of our simpler Roll Over Bars.



Whilst intended for use with our fibreglass backlight frame, the cages in this series (RTR9177) can be fitted under the original aluminium backlight frame or other backlight frames and hard tops available on the market. Unlike our fibreglass backlight frame for which these ROP's were designed, the original aluminium version has two bosses cast into the under face through which the hard top centre panel or surrey top are attached. As the ROP will sit directly below these access holes the main hoop incorporates two hollow ferrules to enable the hard top panel or surrey top to be fastened through both the ROP and the backlight frame. Longer bolts are required to fit the hard top centre panel or surrey top. If the bosses in an aluminium backlight frame are left in place, the ROP needs to sit slightly lower down. The bosses can be ground away a little to allow the ROP to sit higher.


The RTR9177 series ROP's offer considerable protection and additional stiffness as they are secured to the body at multiple points: -

RevingtonTR ROP's - The range

RevingtonTR supply a full range of Roll Over Protection (ROP) including ROB's and Full Roll Cages for the complete TR range. All ROB's allow the hood to be folded and unfolded unless specified otherwise. The following descriptions are used to describe the style of bars in our TR4-6 range.


ROAD BARS (RTR9148-1 series) have no diagonal brace with the option to purchase a separate transverse harness bar (RTR9148HB and HB-1).

COMPETITION BARS are supplied with fixed (RTR9148-2 series) or removable (RTR9148-3 series) diagonal brace, with the option to purchase a separate transverse harness bar (RTR9148HB and HB-1).

FULL SAFETY CAGES (RTR9177 series) are supplied with a fixed diagonal brace and a transverse harness bar suitable for wrap around full harness seat belts. Ferrules for clip type belts can be added at a modest extra cost. See part number RTR9148HBFX4F below.
