Chris Shaw completes Club Triumph's dash to Italy and back in his TR7 prepared by Revington TR

Published: 05 Aug 2005

Chris Says 'On the first day we had a gentle night time run through France to breakfast in Montreux, Switzerland, headed over the mountains to Camonix, through the Mt Blanc tunnel, over col Pettit Bernard to Val d' Isere, Col Iseran, Col Mt Cenis (and that's by lunch), Col de Vars, Col De Bonnett, to Ventimiglia on the Italian coast.
The next day was a blast across Italy, round Lake Maggiore to Splugen, up the Splugen Pass, Bormio then the Stelvio mostly in the dark, Davos, Kolsters, Chur, Scheffhausen and then through Germany to Nurburg for breakfast. Nurburgring is brilliant, especially when you have a GPS system to provide pace notes, did 2 laps and got round in 12:20, wet & misty.
The PIAA light mountings Revington TR fitted worked very well and several people have expressed an interest in them.
The wind deflector I devised has also done well; we did around 2000 miles with the hood down, day, night, rain, snow.
The camshaft has definitely given the car a bit of bite and it was the best all round car in the event. It will comfortable out accelerate a 2500PI and any other 4 cyl TR.
