This TR5 non air bleed Metering Unit supplied on an exchange basis suits only very early standard TR5's where the tick over adjustment is by individual screws on each pair of throttle bodies and NOT by an air bleed valve at the front of the first inlet manifold.

This early arrangement of idle adjustment by 3 screws can be seen here items 22 and 23 on the TR5 illustration. The later TR5's use an air bleed valve which was then continued to the end of TR6PI production which can be seen here in the TR6 illustration as the arrangement is not shown in the TR5 parts books, items 4 and 5. Note that the idle screws are still shown as items 22 and 23 on this later TR6 drawing but were in fact not used and were eventually deleted.

This Exchange Metering Unit attracts a deposit until a reconditionable unit is returned for credit. This cost is shown with the displayed price. The unit returned must be complete and with plastic side cover and cap fitted. Units that have been dismantled or are seized may result in loss of refund in part or full of the deposit depending on what is found when the unit is dismantled.

As many TR's these days have been rebuilt and modified it is essential to order the correct Metering Unit for your car. We have listed below all 4 TR variations. There were in fact 8 different metering units fitted to the entire TR range, however 4 of them had such minor calibration variations that the list has been condensed to 4 that cover all models.
Having chosen the correct Metering Unit for your car, the unit may well still need further tuning to suit the exact parameters of your car. Over boring, head work, exhaust options and inlet filtering will all influence the fueling required; notwithstanding the change in fuel available today being quite different to that available in the 1970's.

Note: - If you are using your PI TR at high altitude then special additional tuning will definitely be required otherwise the engine will run constantly rich.
