Single cable overhead throttle system 2.5 P.I. Saloon cars Mk 1 etc. with CP type throttle bodies fitted. This kit replaces the old throttle system completely and provides an overhead cross shaft.

The throttles are operated by 3 independent throttle rods, which are sold separately as a stage one kit part number RTR4045K. This stage one kit alone has proved itself a major contributor to smooth running and maintainability of Lucas mechanical petrol injection systems This overhead throttle kit takes the improvement a stage further by replacing the standard under-slung cross shaft below the throttle bodies with a new overhead system to which are added three independent ball jointed rods passing down to the butterfly spindles. These new rod assemblies have been designed to eliminate inlet butterfly 'flutter' and when incorporated into this full kit provides a much smoother throttle action.
The kit includes a new overhead cross shaft mounted on sturdy pressed steel supports. By bringing the mechanism above the throttle bodies, space below is vacated so that high gas flow exhaust manifolds can be installed (the original under slung cross shaft would be in the way) and this new higher location keeps heat away from the mechanism as well as making access for adjustment easier.
This kit includes 3 cross shaft bearings made from a material superior to the original in as much as it is not affected by heat, grease or U.V. light, and a choke mechanism.
